Kimberly Nebo selects Southern Illinois University

Kimberly Nebo of Cy-Lakes High School has verbally committed to Southern Illinois University.

The 6’1 forward chose the Salukis because “after my visit, I fell in love with everything they had to offer … it was the best fit for me as a player and academically. SIU is a top research institution and I plan to major in Biology or Chemistry.”

Nebo currently holds a 4.4 GPA and leads the Lady Spartans as MVP and Defensive Player of the Year by averaging 18 points, 12 rebounds, 2 blocks per game and CFISD second leading scorer. She earned honors as First Team All-District17-5A, Academic All-District 17-5A and First Team All Region.

The 2013 recruit’s dominating presence and ability to create contact as she attacks the basket will definitely benefit the Saluki program led by Head Coach Missy Tiber.

Kim has two sisters; Melody and Chibinma and two brothers; Shad and Joshua. Her parents, Shady and Stella Nebo are “excited that she will be joining a program with a caring coaching staff that has her best interest at heart on and off the court to.” They accompanied her on the official visit to SIU and “like the fact that the athletes hold the highest GPAs campus-wide and the educational program exceeded our expectations.”

Nebo’s pledge makes this number seven for Texas Preps Elite club players, with previous commitments from Lexi Fatheree (’13 Foster, SFA), Nekia Jones (’13 Ozen, UT), Kelsey Lang (’13 The Woodlands, UT), Alyssa Dry (’15 Aledo, UT), Lashann Higgs (’15 Cedar Ridge, UT) and Jordan Hosey (’15 Manvel, UT).
