Texas Hooks Hosey

October 6, 2012 by S. Fuller

Jordan Hosey, 6’2 sophomore forward from Manvel High School verbally committed to the University of Texas today. Her pledge  makes this number five for club team Texas Preps Elite with previous commitments from Nekia Jones (’13 Beaumont Ozen), Kelsey Lang (’13 The Woodlands), Alyssa Dry (’15 Aledo) and Lashann Higgs (’15 Cedar Ridge).

The Pearland native said she picked UT over a host of other schools because “It felt like home … not to mention the education, tradition and location.” In between UT elite camp sessions, “Coach Adrian (Adrian Washington, Texas Preps Elite) introduced me to Coach Aston; she said I had already caught her eye!” “I’ve seen Coach Aston in action and I like her style, so we kind of chose each other.”

The 2015 recruit said “I’ve always wanted to play in the Big 12 … I can play with comfort at UT because I communicate well with the coaches and I have a great relationship with the girls from my club team and girls I’ve played against in the summer that will all be there when I come in … I can’t wait to get to UT because I know I will get a GREAT EDUCATION and the opportunity to win an NCAA Title!”

Curtis and Felicia Hosey, and older sibling Myia (her BFF) are “proud and excited” that Jordan will be close to home, “it was important for us as a family to be close and able to continue supporting her.” Hosey’s parents said that … “Coach Aston has been very welcoming to us. She let us know she felt strong about having our daughter be a part of the Longhorn family and that has made us confident in the decision process.”

Ranked #6 in Texas by PBR, Hosey joins a growing list of elite talent headed to the Lady Longhorn’s corral.  Karen Aston has been relentless on the recruiting trail rounding up top level recruits with five commitments from the 2013 class, in addition to the players mentioned above, which also include Lilley VanderZee (’13 Granbury), Brianna Taylor (’13 Dekaney).
